THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) &
THE MARKETPLACE EXCHANGE
What it means for you and/or your business.
Overview of Insurance
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a new and extensive healthcare law (healthcare reform) currently being implemented. The new rules and guidelines affect almost everyone - insurers, individuals and employers and are intended to insure that everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions, have access to the same affordable healthcare plans. One of the specific
highlights of the ACA are the mandates that require everyone to "get covered" (obtain health insurance coverage) beginning in January 2014, and every year thereafter, or face fines and penalties. Another is the minimum required essential benefits that must be contained in all health insurance plans, either on or off the Exchange.
